Well Put

June 9th, 2006

Here is an excellent web page about a chain email that presented a bogus picture of a syrian protest with a BS line of patriotic propaganda. It is very well written and the author makes a number of wonderful points about our current entanglement in the middle east. Don't try and force what you believe on others at the expense of your very beliefs.

A new month and like so many Junes before -- hot! The air conditioner is out at work and while I don't mind the heat so much (same effect as a quaylude so I hear) everybody is sweaty and cranky.

I made a good find today. I get sick of listening to the same old songs in my library and have never been one for streaming audio, that is until now. I stumbled upon a site called pandora that suggests music based upon an artist or a song name that you enter. Pretty nifty. As a matter of coincidence slashdot featured a review of the top ten music suggestion services out there today and pandora ranked second. Last.fm was the number one choice so I went ahead and signed up for an account. Both sites have their benefits. Pandora is simple and a nice feature is that it tells you why it groups certain music together. Last.fm is more cumbersome and you have to download software but it is also more in-depth. It doubles as a social networking site and a music site in one. Other users can recommend music to you based upon your similar interests. I guess the downside of both sites is that the more new music I hear and the more I decide to buy, the thinner my wallet will become.
