July 2007 Entries
A year of blogging under my belt as of July 28th.  I kinda forgot about it because I have been so busy with my mom and dad in town.  Man, I never thought my parents would wear me out.   But it was great to see them and with a little luck it won't be long until they live down here as well.  Seeing them certainly reminds me of how much I miss them and seeing them twice a year is just not enough.

What else has been going on?  Not much really.  Summer is moving along.  The days are long and hot and it feels good.  Spring is my favorite season down here but summer is a close second.  The heat I don't mind.  I like the way it makes me feel tired.  That may sound odd, but there is something nice about drinking an iced tea while baking in the sun.

But anyway,  I've been blogging for just over a year.  It has been fun, though a bit intermittent.  I do think it is good to write once in a while and a blog makes it so damn easy.
I am back from my mini four day beach tour, but I am a little bit burnt around the edges.  I wasn't as diligent with the sunblock as I should have been and I have quite the sunburn.  But all in all it was a great time, both seeing Yonder, and swimming in the ocean.  So much fun in fact that I am going back to swim this Sunday, this time at Wrightsville.  This time I'll be sure to use sunblock...
This story has it all, reporters who refuse to bow to censorship, dangerous chemicals in our food sources, evil corporations,  corrupt lawyers , secret documents.....

Oh, and it's all true.  Oh yeah, and it's about FOX13 in Florida.
Well not a lot has been happening as of late.  Meghann has a couple of weeks off and I am taking next Monday/Tuesday off and we are going on a micro-beach tour.  Saturday night we'll be staying in VA Beach and will be seeing Yonder Mountain String Band at the NorVa, a music hall in Norfolk.   Then on Saturday we'll be driving down to Myrtle Beach to see the band play at the House of Blues.  Yonder is one of my favorite bands, although I have only seen them once before at the Lincoln Theater here in Raleigh.  They play with such high intensity that you start dripping sweat just listening to them.  If you haven't checked them out and you have any sort of disposition to blue grass I recommend you do so.  You can download their live performances at the internet archive.  I think I will download a show later tonight.

Other news...  My mom is in town for three weeks to watch my cousins while my aunt and uncle gallivant around Spain and Portugal.  It is good to see her. It is seldom that we get to see each other these days as both my folks live in upstate New York, which is about a twelve hour drive.  My dad will be down in the latter part of this month and it will be good to see him too.

Well, that is about it.  I am feeling very good as summer progresses.  Hot weather be damned.

Bush has commuted Scooter Libby.  Wow.  Didn't see that one coming.  In case you are not familiar with Scooter Libby, he is the author of the erotic thriller, The Apprentice.   Oh yeah, he's was also the chief of staff of Vice President Cheney who was convicted by a jury of his peers of unlawful conduct.  I guess rich white friends of DICK are above the law.  And as far as Bush's decision goes, why not? Nobody likes him anyway.

Why you all read in the face Scooter?

Scooter commutes.

So say goodbye to the ugly.  After changing to my God awful yellow on gray with blue and purple highlights, I have switched to a cleaner scheme.  The reason?  Well besides the fact that my readership dropped by 75% (From four readers to one, thanks for your loyalty you know who you are) there was the reason that my site was clinically proven to induce seizures and migraine headaches.  Well, I hope it wasn't that bad.  But in any event this new skin is pretty slick.  Up in the top navigation part of the page, you have the option to change the font size of the page as well as switch the layout from jell-o to full screen, to fixed-width.  Plus you can move the navigation from right to left and back if you so choose.   A word of warning... if you click where it says help, it is a little bit garbled, but I hope to fix that soon.  In any event, enjoy it while it lasts.
